Compensated Lock Backspacer for Spyderco Manix 2
Compensated Lock Backspacer for Spyderco Manix 2

Have you ever wanted to use your Spyderco Manix 2 Lightweight blade in aftermarket or stock G10 scales? Yeah, me too.
I am not a fan of the plastic lightweight scales but wanted my favorite knife in a variety of steels. Until now, you'd have to buy another stock G10 Manix and be left with a pile of extra parts.
Machined from 303 stainless steel, this modified version of the lock backspacer compensates for the small differences between the lightweight and regular Manix 2 blades - ensuring proper lock functionality.
Disclaimer: This spacer will not work with standard Manix 2 blades. Only lightweight blades with G10 and aftermarket scales such as AWT and RSD scales.
If for any reason this does not work for you, contact me and I will replace it free of charge with one tested using my own scales.
Features:
- Compensated for small differences in the lightweight blade to ensure proper lockup and functionality in aftermarket and stock g10 Manix 2 scales.
- Finish quality on par with stock back spacer - more attention is paid to the exposed parts of the part. The sides will have residual machining marks but are covered once installed and do not impede with functionality.
- Satin or stonewashed finish (more to come!)

Was scratching my head on how I was going to put Chris’s Boba Fett scales on my Manix 2 LW when I saw this. Great quality as always. Buy with confidence!
Own multiple Manix 2s because they have been, currently are, and always will be da way. Picked up a LW MagnaCut example and wanted to use some AWT scales with it. Since I already had multiple iterations of the knife I utilized the guts from a G10 version to put the knife together with the AWT scales and the MagnaCut blade. The knife functioned flawlessly but I did notice that when the lock was engaged it did so further toward the blade end of the knife than any of my other Manix 2 examples. This in no way compromised the function of the knife or the strength of the lock, but it did theoretically mean that the self-correcting functionality of the lock design was lessened. Admittedly, the likelihood of ever seeing this sort of wear from use is highly unlikely, but also not impossible.
Enter Third Threshold's compensated lock backspacer. The design and implementation of the part by TTD absolutely and completely eliminated this (potential) problem for the use case of swapping a blade from a lightweight Manix 2 into a knife that utilizes all of the other components from a non-LW model. Lockup was returned to the same degree as experienced with an original, non-LW version of the knife.
I've used this model knife for nearly a decade, have multiple examples of it, and have disassembled and reassembled this model many, many times. It is obvious that TTD took the time to accurately analyze where the very slight differences in blade dimensions between the LW and non-LW Manix's created this discrepancy to determine the root cause of the issue. And then they also put the time in to design and produce a product that absolutely corrected for that discrepancy.
I will say, this isn't necessarily an issue that will realistically lead to any kind of negative impact for, likely, the vast majority of users. But it also isn't completely non-existent either. This product does EXACTLY what it was designed to do and it does it without changing or compromising any other aspect of what I consider to be among the absolute best folding knives in its class. If you are wondering whether or not this does what it purports to do know that the answer is yes, it absolutely does.
